I started TDM in 2019 with Jesse Proctor - who lives out in Seattle - by sending riff and drum ideas back and forth just for the hell of it. After they started to take shape I really wanted to put a band together and play this stuff live. We started gig’n and putting out singles with a few different lineups of rad CLT musicians, having an absolute blast and put out our first EP Don't Praise The Machine. In 2023, with the main lineup of Jeremy Radio, Leo Solis, Zach Luper and Dominic Geralds, Thousand Dollar Movie released Give Me A Year. The EP is a bit of a concept album about moving to a city from a small town and all that entails. That's what this record is about, those feelings that a city can give you. The scary excitement, the hope, and on the other side of the coin being surrounded by so many people but feeling very alone. Going from being the stoked new kid in the scene to being the old guy at the end of the bar. Seeing your favorite neighborhood bulldozed and finding some weird sandwich place that makes the best cheesesteak. The album is called Give Me A Year and I hope anyone that's left a small town and fell in love with a city can relate. The album also starts with a brief cameo (and only vocals on the project) from the one and only Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges).

Give Me A Year was followed up by another ep Birdfeeder Vol 1 and a split 7" with mssv, a freakin honor for us.

the new album out 6/12/26 is called Thumb Tacks and its TDM's first full length.

Thumb Tacks has moments of familiarity to their past releases but feels like a new direction at the same time. "We went into the studio kinda blank on this one, our last EPs we really wanted to capture what makes our live show so good and went in very rehearsed and cut them live on the floor, but we decided with this one to not put ourselves in any kind of box musically or instrument wise. Lots of piano and strings and we werent scared of space and quiet." says bassist Jeremy Radio. The result is beautifully cinematic and heartbreakingly sad. The inspiration and story behind this record is life on the road as a touring musician, which every member of this band does in some capacity. The idea that getting to your dreams can almost break you, but then hanging on to it is even harder. Broken relationships, mental and physical health suffers, you wonder if this is the year you finally call it and try a normal life.... but then the stage lights come on and you remember why you got in the van in the first place.

Thumb Tacks will release 6/12/26 on Four Finger Records.
